Eight years ago I moved to London from Bruges, in Belgium.
Back in 2001 I started working as a freelance photographer for various animal charities. As an editorial photographer one of my first clients was The Mayhew Animal Home, a London based animal shelter.
My animal photography for the Cats Protection League, a cat charity has been used in various national and local newspapers.
I have worked a lot for Brent, Harrow and Lambeth council, all local councils in London. These assignments require me to take standard group pictures, make portraits, cover receptions and events. It teaches me a lot about the local community and forces me to see the beauty in everything. It can be challenging at times, but it gives me great pleasure as well.
Over the past year, I embarked on a trip around Great Britain in search of "true" food. I met some great people and discovered an all together new side of this amazing country, the country side... The pictures of this project are available via Photolibrary.com, just type in "Isabelle Plasschaert" in the search box, drop down to Photographer Name.
Recently I got involved with the charity Sustain. I love working for them because they love everything I love.
